diary

3/19/2026

so... it has been a very very VERY long time since i revisited neocities. i am now a college graduate with a full-time job! i feel like i got more whimsical and brave. the last two years have been formative, to say the least. i think i really grew into myself, and am still growing. but details regarding that will be for my personal journal. here's are some other updates in the meantime!

lolita
my most recent fixation has been egl! i've been interested in egl for a long time, but i never looked at pieces before because i didn't have money and didn't want to be even TEMPTED by any of it. but now, since i have begun to have sort of have the means to afford it, i've been allowing myself to really REALLY get into it at last!
so far, i have two jsks, both of which i got at secondhand markets, and two headdresses, one made by a friend, and one from BTSSB! my first and only official brand item so far. these, plus my other items (blouses, accessories, etc), were collected secondhand over a long period of time. a lot of them aren't even actually officially "lolita" items per se. they're thrifted pieces that happen to work well with my coords! i recently scored a really awesome red and white babydoll btssb jsk off of lace market recently, so once that arrives maybe i will go out to afternoon tea in it! looking forward to continue sustainably collecting more pieces that i really love for my egl wardrobe :3 both "official" lolita pieces and non-lolita pieces that will still go well with my "official" items!

birds and bones
i feel like most people who know me know that i've loved birds for a very long time, but after transferring to a four-year university, i started getting more serious about birding. this meant that i finally dusted off my disused eBird account and began to actually log what species i saw on birding trips. and i got myself a pair of binoculars! (though those were quickly replaced thanks to my awesome friend who gifted me a better pair for my 22nd birthday, LOL.) really crazy to me now that i used to go birding before without binoculars. also, getting serious about birding meant getting serious about a whole lot of other stuff that mattered to birds! i began to learn a lot more about entomology and herpetology, and even botany a little bit! it's been really awesome:3
and i've started collecting bones! i got really into it this past winter, and i'm always on the hunt for more. i've always liked taxidermy and dead stuff, but it never struck me as an option to just go out and pick them up for myself until recently. bone collecting has been really fun and i feel like i am learning more about the natural world in a different way than birding. bone collecting forces me to look in places i normally wouldn't look at for birds. with birds, it was always eyes to the sky, but now, i scan the ground too. i think bone collecting as a hobby has also really forced me to reevaluate the way i think about death and dying and has made me view it in a way that is more whimsical and joyous. it's been awesome.

work
i won't divulge too many details about my work, but i really enjoy my job. i do different things every day, and i have a lot of freedom to contribute in the way that i want. before i started, i was really quite worried about falling into the whole 9-5 trap where i only look forward to the weekends and every other day of my life becomes a slog, but that hasn't happened to me so far. i go out of my way to try to do different things after work every day or go out on non-weekend days, and that has made my life a lot more colorful. i think it helps that my job is really nice. but yeah, so far, so good!
